Sweet & Spicy Guava BBQ Wings
Sweet & Spicy Guava BBQ Wings
Makes 12 wings
Ingredients:
For the wings:
12 chicken wings
1 tsp. Adobo
1 tsp. Garlic Powder
1/2 tsp. Black Pepper
1 packet Sazón with Annato (Achiote)
For the Sweet & Spicy Guava BBQ Sauce
1/4 cup (3 Tbsp.) Guava Paste, melted
2 Tbsp. Water
1 Tbsp. KC Masterpiece Original BBQ Sauce
1 Tbsp. Hunts Hickory Brown Sugar BBQ Sauce
2 large cloves Garlic, minced
1/2 tsp. Black Pepper
1 tsp. Red Pepper Flakes
5-7 drops Tabasco Original Hot Sauce
1 Tbsp. I Can't Believe it's Not Butter
Procedure:
1. Season chicken wings with adobo, black pepper, garlic powder and sazón.
Note* If you don't have Adobo and Sazón you can just season with salt & pepper.
2. Deep fry your wings until they are fully cooked and crispy.
3. Meanwhile, cut your guava paste into small pieces, this will help melt evenly so your paste won't burn.
4. Add guava paste to a small sauce pan with 2 Tbsp. water. Place over medium low heat and using a whisk mix until guava melts.
5. Once guava paste is about 90% melted, remove from heat and continue stirring, don't worry about small pieces that are not melted, they completely melt once you keep stirring. Don't place again over heat because guava paste burns easily.
6. Mince 2 large cloves of garlic and add to a large mixing bowl. Than add 3 Tbsp. of your guava paste, 1 Tbsp. KC Masterpiece Original BBQ Sauce, 1 Tbsp. Hunts Hickory Brown Sugar BBQ, Black Pepper, Red Pepper Flakes, Tabasco Sauce and Butter. Whisk everything together until butter is completely incorporated, approx. 1 minute.
Note* For crispy wings once you remove chicken from fryer leave in basket or place in a pasta strainer. Don't ever drain chicken over paper towels because the skin gets soft.
8. Serve hot with carrot or celery sticks. Great with Ranch Dressing! And as always Enjoy!
